Iran Claims Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
